Kindness Kits is a LA-based non-profit dedicated to redirecting waste in the makeup, hygiene, and personal care industry to vulnerable populations.

A rapidly growing contributor to beauty waste is PR gifting, a marketing practice where brands send free products to influencers and content creators in hopes of securing reviews, unboxings, or social media mentions. With hundreds of thousands of creators receiving countless packages monthly, this has become a massive industry. However, the reality is starkly different from brands' intentions: upwards of 90% of PR products sent to creators go completely unused. These items pile up in creators' homes, eventually making their way to the trash. So what happens to these products after the camera stops rolling?

At Kindness Kits, we believe these perfectly usable items don't have to end up in landfills, they can be used where they're truly needed.
We partner directly with your favorite influencers and creators to collect excess PR products, then work with local women's shelters and community centers to ensure these items reach the communities that need them most. We understand that influencer marketing isn't going anywhere, it's essential for many brands to gain exposure and connect with audiences. However, that doesn't mean it can't be sustainable.

Collection
We maintain a wonderful network of influencers and content creators who donate excess PR products to our cause. Additionally, we partner directly with brands and agencies to maximize our reach and impact. Currently we take all makeup, self-care, hygiene, and menstrual products!

Preparation
After receiving items, our dedicated volunteers carefully inspect each product to ensure it is unexpired, unopened, and untampered with. Safety is our top priority in this process.

Distribution
We then redistribute these items through our “Kit-Making Distributions”. This is where we come on-site to locations like women's shelters and transitional housing facilities to create personalized kits with participants. Our volunteers work one-on-one with individuals to ensure each person receives items specifically tailored to their unique needs and preferences.
